Aug 25, 2021

**TRIGGER WARNING** This episode covers sensitive subject matter and is not suitable for all listeners. If this topic could be a trigger for you, listen to this episode with a friend, a sibling, a loved one or a parent so you can talk about any emotions that come up for you. The contents of this episode are not intended to replace therapy and should not be taken as such. If you need immediate help, please call the crisis hotline listed below in our resources.

In this bonus episode, I speak with Amy Carpenter, who is an author, subject matter expert and national speaker on sexual assault.

Amy has worked for twenty-five years as a psychotherapist and relationship coach. Her book, Be Strong, Be Wise: The Young Adult’s Guide to Sexual Assault Awareness and Personal Safety, teaches risk reduction to boys, girls and non-binary youth in a way that empowers students to feel informed, not afraid.

A long-time youth advocate, Amy believes every young person deserves to learn how to create healthy partnerships and avoid toxic ones.

Listen in as we talk about:

  • What Amy learned from each episode this month
  • How to trust your gut instincts and strengthen that muscle
  • Tips to build your own definition of personal awareness
  • What to do if you’re struggling with a secret sexual assault or trauma
