In this week’s episode, I sit down with Bo Beaufill, a student by day, filmmaker and activist by night.

They are best known for their film "They/Them" -- which has more than two million downloads on YouTube. Bo's other work focuses on mental health, the LGBTQ+ community, and prisoner rights.

Bo has more than 13k subscribers on YouTube, and their films and content spark conversation, insight and healing within the LGBTQ+ community.

Listen in as we talk about:

  • What it means to identify as non-binary
  • How they came out as bisexual and then as non-binary
  • How Bo has always seen people and situations as neutral
  • Their internalized homophobia, battle with self-harm and attempted suicide
  • The story of getting into script writing and how Bo produced their first short film on YouTube
  • The challenges Bo has faced and continues to face as non-binary in today’s world
  • Coming out to their parents and family
